1. About These Terms
These Terms & Conditions describe how membership, facility use and services at Go Beyond Fitness operate. They apply to all members, visitors and participants making use of our gym, classes, coaching and related services.
2. Health & Participation
- You are responsible for ensuring that you are physically and mentally able to participate in exercise and gym activities without undue risk.
- You must inform Go Beyond Fitness of any relevant health conditions, injuries, illnesses or risks that may affect your ability to train safely.
- Go Beyond Fitness may, at its discretion, require a doctor’s note confirming that you are fit to exercise before or during your membership.
- By training at Go Beyond Fitness, you acknowledge that you participate at your own risk and agree to indemnify Go Beyond Fitness against claims, losses or damages arising from your participation in exercise activities at or through the gym, as far as permitted by South African law.
3. Indemnity & Liability
- Your membership and use of the facility serves as an acknowledgement that you understand and accept the risks associated with physical exercise.
- You agree to indemnify and hold Go Beyond Fitness harmless from any claims, losses, damages, injuries or costs arising from your use of the gym, equipment, services or participation in classes and sessions, as far as permitted by law.
- Go Beyond Fitness will always strive to provide a safe environment, but cannot guarantee the prevention of all injuries or incidents.
4. Membership & Facility Use
- Membership is personal and non-transferable. You may not share, assign or cede your membership rights to another person.
- You agree to follow all facility rules, safety guidelines and instructions given by Go Beyond Fitness staff and coaches.
- Appropriate gym clothing and footwear must be worn. Poor conduct, unsafe behaviour, harassment, or disrespect towards staff or members will not be tolerated.
- Go Beyond Fitness may suspend or revoke access if these terms, safety rules or facility etiquette are not followed.
5. Under 18s (Minors)
- Anyone under the age of 18 requires written consent from a legal guardian to participate or join as a member.
- All under-18 memberships and facility use are subject to management approval before access is granted.
- A responsible adult or guardian may be required to be present or reachable depending on the membership type and age of the member.
6. Payments & Fees
6.1 Joining & Pro-Rata Fees
- A once-off, non-refundable joining fee (currently R200) is payable when you start your membership.
- If you join mid-month, a pro-rata fee will apply from your joining date to the end of that month, payable immediately.
6.2 Monthly Membership Fees
- Membership fees are payable monthly in advance, on or before the 1st of each month.
- The standard method of payment is debit order.
- If a debit order fails, you may be required to pay via EFT or cash, and any related bank charges or failed debit fees may be added to your next invoice.
- EFT or cash payments must be made into the official Go Beyond Fitness bank account, with proof of payment sent to admin@gobeyondfitness.co.za.
6.3 Arrears & Collections
- Charges incurred by Go Beyond Fitness for unpaid or returned debit orders are payable by you and will be included in your next invoice.
- Overdue accounts may be handed over to a collection agency. All associated costs, including legal costs, will be for your account.
6.4 Fee Changes
- Membership fees may increase from time to time. Go Beyond Fitness will provide at least one calendar month’s written notice before any fee increases take effect.
7. Sessions, Classes & Attendance
7.1 Personal Training Sessions
- You must give at least 24 hours’ notice if you cannot attend a personal training session.
- If you fail to provide 24 hours’ notice and do not attend, the session will be forfeited and non-refundable.
- If you cancel with 24 hours’ notice, the trainer will reschedule the session once. If the rescheduled session is cancelled for any reason, it will be forfeited and non-refundable.
7.2 Group Classes
- If you miss a group class session, that session is forfeited and will not be rescheduled or refunded.
- Go Beyond Fitness does not guarantee make-up classes for missed sessions.
8. Holiday Period & Holiday Guide
- Go Beyond Fitness will be closed for business during an annual holiday period (typically around 15 December to 8 January). Exact dates may change year to year.
- No membership refunds or credits are given for this closure period.
- Members on personal training membership options agree that a R500 “Holiday Guide” levy may be charged during this period, which will be added automatically to the member’s invoice to provide training guidance while the facility is closed.
9. Freezing the Membership
- Membership can be frozen for medical or travel reasons for a minimum of 1 month and maximum of 6 months within a 12-month period, provided your account is not in arrears.
- A monthly administration fee (currently R75) is charged for each frozen month.
- Valid proof (e.g. medical certificate or travel itinerary) must accompany a written freeze request sent to admin@gobeyondfitness.co.za.
- Your contract term will be extended by the number of months that your membership is frozen.
- All standard fees remain payable until you receive written confirmation from Go Beyond Fitness that the freeze has been approved.
10. Cancellations, Upgrades & Downgrades
- The minimum contract term depends on the membership option selected. After the initial term, memberships continue on a month-to-month basis.
- To cancel, upgrade, or downgrade your membership, you must give one full calendar month’s written notice via email to admin@gobeyondfitness.co.za.
- An administration fee may apply for upgrades or downgrades.
- If you cancel before the end of your agreed contract period, you may remain liable for membership fees for the full term of the agreement.
- Go Beyond Fitness may cancel your membership with 20 business days’ written notice if you breach these terms or facility rules.
Cooling-Off
- New members are entitled to a 5-day cooling-off period from the date of joining. Cancellation must be submitted in writing to accounts@gobeyondfitness.co.za.
- No cooling-off period applies to the Habitual Coaching Program once initial “start-up documents” have been provided.
11. Binding Law
- These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
- If you fail to pay membership fees or amounts owing on time, you may be held responsible for all associated collection costs, including legal fees.
12. Advertising & Media
- By training at Go Beyond Fitness, you consent to the reasonable use of your name, photographs and video footage taken in the gym for promotional and advertising purposes in South Africa, unless you explicitly opt out in writing.
- Go Beyond Fitness will always aim to use media respectfully and in line with our brand values.
13. Communication
- All official communication regarding changes to membership, freezes, cancellations, payments or terms must be sent in writing to admin@gobeyondfitness.co.za (or to accounts@gobeyondfitness.co.za where specified).
- Verbal conversations, WhatsApp messages or SMS with trainers or staff do not count as formal notice and may not reach the accounts or admin teams in time.
